One important difference is the role of conventional wisdom. MSM loves the damned thing. They like to create it and they like to parrot it. Anti-abortionists and, in particular, Inhofe climate science-deniers benefit from a lack of media-established conventional wisdom against them. This is really starting to go against climate change deniers, but witness what George Will can still get away with in the Post. Creationists, however, have to overcome the MSM conventional wisdom (at the national level anyways) that evolution has a basis in science and ID does not. For them, the challenge is much greater -- talking heads would be required to revise their thinking to promote ID, without any evidence to direct the change (watch analogies are not evidence). Not necessarily impossible, but certainly more difficult.
